Silvercar Expands Coverage in the US
If you’ve never heard of Silvercar, that could soon change. The upscale car rental service is pushing to expand all over the United States. The latest market included in its expansion is Salt Lake City, Utah, making 18 locations and counting.
You may think that’s an odd choice, but it makes sense. Plenty of people fly into Salt Lake City to visit the many ski resorts just outside the metropolitan area. The Sundance Film Festival sees an influx in people heading to Park City, one of America’s most beautiful mountain towns. Having a luxurious all-wheel-drive car to get you there and back to the airport is something travelers will gobble up.
Silvercar doesn’t stick you with a crappy vehicle. As the name suggests, you always get a silver Audi A4. That means no enduring a plastic Easter egg on wheels nobody in their right mind would willingly drive on the freeway.
Not only is Silvercar shaking up the vehicle rental business by only offering Audi A4s, you also get to skip out on all the paperwork in a rental office that smells vaguely of rotting cheese. You arrange for the vehicle digitally with an app, including the pick-up and drop-off locations.
The money behind Silvercar’s aggressive expansion comes from none other than Audi. The German automaker recently bought Silvercar. If you can’t use the service in your area yet, that could change in the near future.
