Sears and Amazon Team Up On Tires
If you’ve ever bought tires online, you know first-hand the transaction includes having them shipped to a shop, or taking them to one for mounting and balancing. Amazon wants to streamline the process for shoppers by partnering with Sears.
Yes, Sears is still around — at least to an extent. This partnership with Amazon might keep the remaining stores from going under. Recently, it closed 24 automotive centers.
This move also means Amazon could really push into Tire Rack’s market presence. Enthusiasts and people who own obscure cars know that Tire Rack is great for getting less-common tires, but having them installed can be a hassle, depending on where you live.
Sears also benefits by selling its DieHard line of tires on Amazon, so it’s a win-win. Also, it gives you more ways to buy tires. Variety is the spice of capitalism, and it keeps the competition fierce. Hopefully it also means better service and prices for everyone.
