Scion is in a model-release frenzy as of late that was started by the debut of the iA and iM. Now, the Toyota subsidiary has announced that it will unveil a new concept model that will preview a production model at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. While the teaser image shows nothing and the press release is nearly void of any detail, it is pretty obvious what this is.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, I will spoil it for you. It is the crossover that the brand has been mulling over for years. While I do not have any inside info on this, the timing is perfect for a small Scion crossover, as the market has never been hotter for these models and Toyota is set to release its own subcompact crossover, which will be a production version of the C-HR concept. It is likely that Scion will use the same C-HR concept to create its own compact crossover of its own.

The teaser image further confirms this, as it is clearly of the rear of the vehicle, and the shape of the backside and the distance of the window from the fascia are identical to the Toyota C-HR concept. What’s more, the Scion badge is literally in the exact same position as the Toyota badge on the C-HR concept, and the image is strategically cropped to cut out the funky taillights.

I honestly think that the sporty look of the C-HR concept would work better under the Scion umbrella. Its youthful look and sexy curves just feel out of place on a Toyota. Chances are, however, that both Toyota and Scion will build their respective versions of C-HR concept.

We’ll find out soon enough if we are right or wrong, as the 2015 LA Auto Show launched on November 18th. Stay tuned for more details.
