Scion Reveals the Final Special-Edition xB, the 686 Parklan Edition

2015 Scion xB 686 Parklan EditionDing-dong, the box is dead! That’s right, Scion is finally killing of the xB! However, before it officially dies, the automaker is releasing a new special-edition model to give it a nice sendoff. Meet the 2015 Scion xB 686 Parklan Edition.

Scion teamed up with snowboard-apparel company, 686, in designing this unique box. On the outside, the two companies coated the xB in an exclusive hue called Cocoa Bean Metallic with red accent lines on the lower front grille, the license-plate applique, and on the side-view mirrors. Also exclusive to this model are the blacked-out badges, side-view mirrors, license-plate applique and door handles, and gloss-black 16-inch alloy wheels with the 686 logo stamped on the center caps.

The changes continue inside, where the duo trimmed the seats with quilted cloth in a cubic camo design, which is apparently a signature of 686. There are also all-weather floor and cargo mats, a zippered storage pocket on the side of the driver’s seat, and zippered seat-back pockets.

Optional equipment includes a roof rack and an INNO cargo box.

The powertrain in this special edition remains untouched, which means it has a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 158 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. This mates to either a five-speed manual of a four-speed automatic transmission – Scion wasn’t clear on this model’s standard transmission.

Scion will produce only 686 examples of this special-edition xB before closing up order books. Each example will set you back $19,685 plus $795 delivery. I guess this is a good way to send off a rather blah hatchback before another, equally blah, hatchback replaces it… Yay, Scion…
