Rumor Spreads That Lincoln Is Bringing The Continental Back
For years and years Lincoln has been a dead car brand walking, yet for reasons few understand at the moment Ford keeps it alive, barely. After all, rebadged Fords with funky grilles is hardly something to get excited about. There seems to be a glimmer of hope for Lincoln, if a rapidly spreading rumor that the Continental is returning turns out to be true.
A strange website popped up not too long ago, proclaiming that the new Lincoln Continental Concept car is coming in the near future. Just as suddenly as it appeared, the website has stopped working, leading people to question if it was legitimate and shut down to keep a lid on the Continental project, or was a cruel joke designed to get people excited over nothing. The link to the website spread quickly because someone posted it on the Blue Oval Forums.
Whether the Continental is indeed coming back or not, Lincoln is due for a big shakeup. Ford has claimed that big changes are coming to the luxury brand, but so far things have been moving forward more or less like before. Okay, Matthew McConaughey starred in some really, really weird ads that some people thought were great and Jim Carrey parodied perfectly, but there’s been no new onslaught of dramatic vehicle designs, or even some crazy concepts.
Supposedly, the concept version of the new Continental will be unveiled during the New York International Auto Show, which is coming up in just a few days. It wouldn’t be the first Continental concept vehicle. Back in 2002 when the model was terminated, Lincoln rolled out a pretty dramatic concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It packed a V-12 engine pushing 412 horsepower (which was even more impressive back then) and had a look that retro and futuristic at the same time, including rear suicide doors.
