Are you anxious to see what Tesla’s affordable new electric car will be like? While some were prepared for a long wait, British car magazine Autocar says that the reveal is set for March of 2016.

People have been spreading around rumors that the new model would break cover at the Geneva car show, but that has been debunked. The new report says that Tesla will continue to establish itself as a maverick in the automotive industry and instead will eschew unveiling the new car at the big, traditional show in Switzerland. Instead, the company will set up a separate event later in March, with the whole thing centering on the Model 3 reveal.

To be honest, revealing a new model outside of a big car show isn’t that maverick of a thing to do. Some recent examples include Jaguar holding a big celebration of all things British in London to unveil the new XE sports sedan. It’s doubtful that Tesla will use that much showmanship when it pulls the covers off the Model 3, but one could only hope for as much. Mazda held an international party to reveal the 2016 Miata, complete with a performance from Duran Duran.

Will Tesla engage in any kind of gimmicks for the Model 3 unveiling, or will it let the car speak for itself? Anything is possible, but if the rumors about the new vehicle are to be believed at all, the Model 3 should be impressive enough without any fanfare. Supposedly, range could surpass 300 miles and the 0 to 60 mph acceleration for the top-of-the-line version of the car will be pegged at 4 seconds or less. That would make the Tesla Model 3 faster than the BMW M3.

Don’t expect a miniature version of the Model S when March rolls around. Different sources inside Tesla have stated that the Model 3 will have bolder styling and will be built using a completely new platform. One of the most important details is that the new vehicle is supposed to have a target price of about $35,000. And hopefully this time, Tesla will deliver the car on the original target date.
