Super Cars
Rendered: Bugatti Chiron Super Sport
Bugatti, like a lot of automakers, is a creature of habit. With the Veyron, the company boosted what was already a ridiculously-powered hypercar, making the Veyron Super Sport. Even though the Chiron is still pretty fresh, TopSpeed is predicting a Super Sport version will be coming out.
Not only has TopSpeed made this bold prediction, it’s whipped up a nice rendering of what it might look like. As part of the forecast, TopSpeed thinks we’ll all see the Bugatti Chiron SS launch in 2020.
It’ll be easy to tell the SS version of the Chiron apart from the regular, thanks to plenty of aero upgrades for the body. At least, TopSpeed is predicting that kind of a move from Bugatti, with a big front splitter, corner canards that look straight from a racecar, an aggressive vented hood, cool roof scoop, bigger side skirts, huge rear wing and a bigger rear diffuser.
In the rendering, the side vents are also larger, boosting engine cooling. Rounding out the exterior upgrades are carbon-fiber wheels.
Most likely, Bugatti will use the same 8.0-liter W-16 engine, squeezing more power out through some engineering wizardry. Because of the already extreme nature of the Chiron’s setup, TopSpeed thinks the SS will kick out somewhere between 1,500 to 1,550 horsepower. When combined with the more aggressive aero elements, acceleration should be at least slightly quicker and faster.
Of course, the Bugatti Chiron isn’t exactly cheap, so the SS will be even more exclusive, meaning you likely can only fantasize about driving one.
