With the F-150 Raptor returning soon and it previously enjoying relative success, Ram is showing that it can play in the wildly powerful off-roader department too. Unfortunately, the Ram 1500 Rebel TRX that fills this slot is just a concept… for now.

This beefy pickup is based upon the standard Ram 1500 Rebel but with a ton of updates to make it one of the mightiest off-road pickups available. It all starts under the hood, where the Ram 1500 Rebel TRX houses a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 HEMI that cranks out a crazy 575 horsepower. This engine delivers power to all four wheels via a 44-45 transfer case from BorgWarner.

Pushing the power out to the front wheels is the standard Ram 1500 front axle, but it includes an open diff and custom half-shafts. Out back is a Dynatrac Pro 60 axle with 1.5-inch axle shafts.

While the drivetrain is quite important, it makes up only a small percentage of what makes the TRX so awesome. This beast’s chassis has been updated to allow for 13 inches of wheel travel – a 40-percent increase – and it includes front and rear bypass performance shocks, 37-inch tires, and more.

Inside the cabin, Ram carries many components over from the 1500 Rebel, but the TRX Concept gains upgraded materials, including carbon fiber, leather, and suede. There are also six-point harnesses to keep everyone snug in their seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel.

The body features a Power Wagon-inspired “RAM” grille, a Ram Heavy Duty-like hood, side-exit exhaust, the Rebel’s “RAM” tailgate, and composite fender flares.

The Ram 1500 Rebel TRX Concept will debut at the 2016 State Fair of Texas, but there are currently no plans to produce it. However, given it tests well, you’d better bet your last dollar that Ram will release this snarling pickup to the public. Fingers crossed!

Stay tuned for updates.
