Porsche Releases the 911 Carrera Black Edition
Porsche isn’t huge on special edition cars, but a few times per year it does decide to roll out some special models. Today, the German automaker debuted the Porsche 911 Carrera Black Edition.
As its name indicates, the 911 Carrera Black Edition makes good use of the dark hue, as its exterior and interior are in all black. This is definitely not the car for someone who lines in SoCal or Florida, as it’l likely result in a few scaldin-hot-leather burns throughout the course of its life.
Other features included with the Carrera Black Edition are the exclusive 20-inch 911 Turbo-style wheels, auto-dimming mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, cruise, LED headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Lighting System Plus, a Sport Design steering wheel, heated seats with an embossed Porsche crest, “Black Edition” doorsill plates, a Bose surround sound system, a mobile telephone module, front and rear park assist, and a rearview camera.
In the power department, things remain unchanged, as the 911 Carrera Black Edition comes with the standard 3.4-liter flat-six engine that produces 350 horsepower. This is enough power to sprint the base 911 Carrera to 60 mph in as few as 4.2 seconds with the PDK transmission and Sport+ mode, while the cabriolet version does the same sprint in as few as 4.4 seconds. Adding all-wheel drive to either model increases its sprint time by a tenth of a second.
This special-edition 911 is available for order now in the U.S. and UK, but deliveries will not occur until July 2015 in America. Pricing in the U.S. starts at $88,800 for the Base Carrera Black Edition, then moves up to $94,800 for the Carrera 4 Black Edition, then to $98,500 for the cabriolet version, and tops out with the all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 Cabriolet 4 at $104,600. UK pricing is £75,074, £81,852, £79309, and £86,125, respectively.
