Porsche Launches the Cayman Black Edition
Earlier in the year, we saw the Black Editions of the 911 Carrera and Boxster. Now, Porsche has announced that it will spread the Black Edition name to the Cayenne.
On the outside, the Cayman will live up to its hue-based name, as it has a sharp black body. Optionally, buyers can upgrade to a Jet Black Metallic paintjob for an even more striking look. Also included are 20-inch Carrera Classic wheels and distinctive bi-xenon headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Lighting System.
Inside this special-edition Cayman, there are a handful of upgrades as well. In here, Porsche added in a Sport Design steering wheel, Black Edition logos on the door-sill guards, an auto-dimming rearview mirrors, and the Porsche emblem embossed on the headrests. Other standard features include two-zone climate control, heated seats, Porsche Communication Management system with navigation, and the Sound Package Plus.
Powering the Cayman Clack Edition is the 2.7-liter flat-six engine that delivers 275 horsepower and 213 pound-feet of torque. With the manual transmission, this engine gets the Cayman to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds, while the PDK transmission drops 0.1 seconds off that sprint time. This time drops to 5.1 seconds with the PDK and Sport Plus mode activated.
The 2016 Cayman Black Edition will hit showrooms in January 2016 at a starting price of $59,200. Porsche didn’t mention how many example of the Black Edition will be available, but I would expect to see a production number around 5,000 units.
