New Study Sheds Surprising Light on Green Car Adoption

The future of cars is green, like it or not. And the portion of the United States that’s leading the charge is the West Coast. This is per a new study conducted by iSeeCars.com. It defined “green” cars as anything electrified (hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and all-electrics).

Shocking nobody, was the top state for the percentage of green cars, at 7.5 percent. Scoff at that all you want, keep in mind it’s the largest vehicle market in the nation by a longshot. Washington and Oregon were second and third, followed by Hawaii and Vermont. Again, no surprise. Maryland ranked number 6, which you might not expect, and Utah was 7. Virginia, Massachusetts, and Arizona rounded out the top 10.

The fact Alaska wasn’t in the top 10 for the overall percentage of green cars, it’s probably more the first thing. Wyoming and Montana are both in the top 10 for adoption rates, which could mean the same thing. All three states have lower populations, too.

The big takeaway is that green vehicle adoption isn’t happening evenly all over the nation. This explains why some people think electric cars are a scam, if they live somewhere such things are oddities instead of everyday sights.
