Behold The New Lincoln MKC
Lincoln revealed the next-generation 2019 MKC, and it admittedly looks pretty good. Gone is most of the awkwardness that plagued the little crossover. Replacing it are plenty of design cues inspired by the Continental and new Navigator. In other words, the whole Lincoln line will look like this before too long.
Some of the biggest changes are happening on the tech front, which should be no surprise. The MKC gains a pre-collision assist feature with pedestrian detection, bringing it in line with most competitors. You can add a park assist, because apparently nobody can parallel park to save their life.
If you have plenty of cash and demand the best experience possible, the new MKC will be included in Lincoln Black Label. That means more personalized service, plus unique design themes based on somewhat elitist activities like fox hunting or not stopping for pedestrians in crosswalks. Basically, the message is the MKC is going upmarket, instead of being a lightly reworked Ford.
Under the hood, you can get either the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-banger, or the twin-scroll 2.3-liter turbocharged engine. They put out 245 horsepower and 285 horsepower, respectively.
According to Lincoln, the MKC has been successful at what the industry calls “conquest sales.” In other words, lots of people who buy the MKC owned a rival brand before, particularly a Lexus or Mercedes-Benz.
