Mountune Makes the Focus RS Even More Incredible

Those of you who follow me know that I was on a waiting list to get the Focus RS. Sadly, my dealership got only three of them and I was seventh on the list, so I was left with just my ST to keep me entertained. But I am still following the RS closely, and Ford modifier extraordinaire, Mountune, has released the third and final phase of its Focus RS mods.

Phases one and two were cool, but they focused mostly on aerodynamics and reliability instead of power. Well, phase three is here, and it has plenty of focus on the latter.

This new upgrade features an updated air filter, a new recirculation valve, new intake ducts with silicone hoses, and a reprogram of the ECU. This drives the 2.3-liter engine’s output to 370 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque—increases of 20 horses and 26 pound-feet.

As options, buyers can add in Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, a new differential, and the phase-two alloy intercooler.

This added power will drop the 0-to-62 mph sprint time to just 4.5 seconds—a 0.2-second improvement—but top speed will remain the same at 165 mph.

Now for the bad news… This kit is currently not for American consumption. It is, however, up for purchase in the U.K. for £899 ($1,174) and it takes about 30 minutes for a Ford-approved shop to install it. There is a U.S.-spec kit in the works, but the final details remain unknown for now. We’ll bring you updates as they become available.
