More Details About The Jeep Truck Come Out
Jeep is actually making a Wrangler-based pickup truck. It almost seems surreal, considering there’s been the unfulfilled promise of this coming for a long time.
And now we know it’s coming in the early part of 2018. That information comes from Mike Manley, who’s the head honcho at Jeep. He divulged this juicy detail during the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles press event at the Chelsea Proving Grounds.
Manley said the truck could’ve come sooner, but he didn’t want to do a “stripped-down” version of it. In other words, Jeep’s taking the approach that if the pickup’s worth making, it’s worth making right.
On a related note, Manley confirmed that the next-gen Wrangler will break cover at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. Likely the truck will debut at the event one year later.
During the gathering, Manley commented on the future Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. The SUVs are going to launch in late 2018 and will be part of the same lineup. Essentially, the Grand Wagoneer will be a super-lux trim level in the Wagoneer lineup, at least according to comments Manley made. Land Rover should be at least a little concerned right now.
