Mercedes-Benz S-Class Gets a New Night Edition
Mercedes-Benz is always good for a few special versions of each of its vehicles. Recently, the S-Class was the subject of this as it received a new Night Edition model.
This model, which is initially based on the Euro-spec S400 Coupe and the S500 Coupe, will take the already-loaded coupe and make it even more upscale.
An exclusive single-louver grille painted in high-gloss black, 20-inch AMG wheels, high-gloss black mirror caps and side-sill panels, AMG-styled aprons and “Night Edition” badges set this model’s body apart. As for color, there is only one option: Selenite Grey Magno.
Inside, “Night Edition” is engraved on the steering wheel, which is wrapped in Nappa leather. Available upholstery options include leather, Nappa leather or AMG Nappa leather. Color combos include black on black, Crystal Grey and black, Saddle Brown and black, and Bengal red and black. As for the trim, buyers get high-gloss black poplar wood.
The powertrains appear to be unchanged, as the S400’s 3.0-liter turbo V-6 will continue with 367 horsepower and the S500’s 4.7-liter V-8 will pound out 455 horsepower. If this model does hit U.S. showrooms, it’ll likely come with the S550, which uses a 449-horsepower 4.7-liter V-8.
The press release does not make mention of U.S. availability, but given it’s debuting at the Detroit Auto Show in January, I suspect it will be available here. Stay tuned for updates.
