When Chevy redesigned the Camaro, making it smaller, lighter and more agile in the process, it left off one important model, the ZL1. It revealed the hottest of the new Camaros at the 2016 New York Auto Show in March, and with this came an output estimate of 640 horsepower. Now, a leaked ordering guide shows that this estimate was a tad conservative.

The leaked guide, which was dug up by members at Camaro6.com, shows that the 2017 Camaro ZL1 will sport a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 that cranks out 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque—10 more horsepower than initial estimates. This engine, as expected, will pair with a six-speed manual transmission, while magnetic ride control and a performance suspension will help in the corners.

In addition to this tweaked V-8, the new ZL1 will also have Chevy’s new Teen Driver mode, embroidered floor mats, a fuel door with exposed carbon-fiber insert, and a 50th-anniversary car cover available.

Chevy has yet to officially announce when the ZL1 will be available for purchase, nor has it announced its price. This information should become available soon, as we are nearing the end of 2016.

We’ll continue monitoring the progress of the ZL1 and bring you updates as they become available.
