The insanity surrounding who will host next to new Top Gear front man, Chris Evans, has reached a fever pitch. Today, according to a report from The Telegraph, we learn that the leading female candidate for the Job, Jodie Kidd, will not be joining the show.

In a sit down with the British publication, Kidd said that she was tired of the endless rumors and wanted to put them to bed. So, with an emphatic “I am not,” she officially pulled her name from consideration. She expanded upon this by saying, “I’ve been in the public eye since I was 14. I’ve always been quiet and never spoken up or fought my own corner despite having loved to have done a million times… This is one of the few times where I’ve wanted to lay some things to rest”

Kid, who currently hosts Channel 5’s The Classic Car Show and an equestrian show on CNN, was not only a leading candidate, but she also threw the media into a frenzy when she had a “secret” lunch with Chris Evans. She confirmed to The Telegraph that this lunch was nothing more than two old friends getting together and that the media blew the entire thing out of proportion.

Why exactly doesn’t she want to be a part of rebooting the legendary motoring show? Well, according to her, “it would be completely all-consuming” and Top Gear “would just take over your soul.” She continued on to talk about how she loves what she is doing right now and how TG would interfere.

What’s more, being a single mother, Top Gear would likely pull her attention away from Indio, her three-year-old son.

So, who will be the new front men or women next to Chris Evans? Kidd seems to think it is someone who is off everyone’s radar. Given her friendship with Evans, maybe she knows something that we do not know.

Kidd’s thoughts add a little fuel to the fire of the public auditions, which closed on July 20th. The most likely place to find untapped and relatively unknown talent will be from the various automotive journalists and low-ranking presenters who applied through this process.

We’ll continue to track the Top Gear co-hos saga as it unfolds and bring you all the latest info.
