The Kia Soul has been a surprising hit, as its quirky looks, spacious interior and rather upscale amenities in the upper trim levels seem to tickle the fancy of the younger crowd. I even find myself oddly attracted to it after I spent a week test driving one for review purposes. In fact, the model is so popular, that Kia keeps on rolling out special-edition versions that buyers gobble up. Last year we saw the release of the Soul Red Zone that drew inspiration from the Track’ster concept, and this year Kia is repeating the trend with a Red Zone 2.0 model.

The Red Zone 2.0 starts off with a base coat of Shadow Black, and receives a smattering of Inferno Red accents in the form of a line around ground effects on the bottom of the vehicle and around the grille. Also included is a rear spoiler for a sportier look, projector headlights, standard fog lights, LED taillights and positioning lights, and 18-inch wheel in a split five-spoke design.

Inside the cabin, the theme continue with Inferno Red contrast stitching on the black cloth seats, shifter boot and the steering wheel, Inferno Red accents on the floor mats, and various Inferno Red trim pieces throughout the cabin.

The cabin is also where the Red Zone 2.0 gains some upscale technology features. These features include UVO eServices, a rearview camera, navigation with an eight-inch display, and a 350-watt Infinity sound system.

Under the hood, things remain unchanged with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine powering the Soul Red Zone 2.0. This engine delivers an adequate 164 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

The 2015 Soul Red Zone will be available in early 2015, but there is no specific release date given. Pricing details have yet to be released, but it should be slightly higher than the $21,400 MSRP of the Soul Plus with the Audio Package that the Red Zone 2.0 is based upon.
