Kahn Design is mostly known for creating beautiful rigs based on existing cars. Some of its favorite vehicles to operate on hail from the Land Rover brand, but it is also open to the likes of Aston Martin, Jaguar, and other upscale automakers. Today, however, I bring you a rarity from Kahn: a preview of a vehicle that appears to be a ground-up design from the bespoke firm.

This latest car, which is dubbed the Speed 7, carries with it a design that harks back to legendary open-wheel racers of the 1930s. Retro styling seems to ooze from every pore of this rig, as its long nose, short tail, cab rearward seating arrangement, and spider bumps behind the seats all stir memories of legendary racers from decades ago.

The details are pretty scant on this new model, but Kahn does mention that it will build the Speed 7’s body from either aluminum or composite and that each model will be hand built. From the images, I can see that Kahn is keeping this uncharacteristically simply on the inside, as the seats look like they are cloth and the dashboard bears only a few necessary gauges.

There is no mention of what powers this awesome-looking track machine, but its long hood indicates that it could be an inline-six engine. However, Kahn could go with a more traditional V-6 or V-8 engine, given there is enough clearance.

Kahn makes it clear that it is not quite ready to build the Speed 7. In its press release, it mentions that it’s looking for businesses that are interested in being a part of this project. Given Kahn’s popularity with overseas buyers, I am willing to bet that once it announces a production model, it will almost immediately sell out.

We’ll bring you more details on the Speed 7 once they become available.
