Jaguar will finally take the plunge into the crossover realm with the new F-Pace, which was previewed by the C-X17 concept. Up until today, Jaguar gave us just small teasers of the upcoming crossover that revealed very little, but now Jag has gone all out by revealing a full image of the new F-Pace under almost nonexistent camo.

From this image, we finally get our first up-close-and-personal peek at the new crossover. From the looks of things it carries on with almost all of the styling cues of the C-X17 concept. The only places I see obvious changes are in the headlights, which are slightly thicker than on the concept, and the center strike through the air inlets on the front apron.

This resemblance to the concept is awesome news, as the C-X17 received pretty solid reviews. What’s more, this design also carries styling cues that Jag is known for, like its long hood and cab-rearward setup.

Jaguar has yet to reveal the F-Pace’s drivetrain, but that doesn’t stop us from speculating. Most reports indicate that the base model will feature a 2.0-liter diesel with 163 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. A supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 with 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque will likely power the S version.

In the press release that accompanied the teaser image, Jag did reveal a few small details about the F-Pace’s chassis. According to the presser, the F-Pace will feature Jag’s lightweight aluminum architecture, a double-wishbone front suspension, an integral-link rear suspension, and an electric power-steering system. The latter may cause concern with some Jaguar enthusiasts, but the British automaker assures its fans that this system delivers better feedback than a hydraulic system.

The F-Type will also be able to tackle poor weather like a champ. This is thanks to Jaguar’s torque on-demand all-wheel-drive system.

The F-Pace will make its official debut on September 15, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show. We’ll bring you all of the details once they become available.
