Jag Releases New Four-Pot Engine for the XE, XF, and F-Pace

Jaguar is steadily working hard to keep pace with its German competitors in every way possible. And now, it is getting one up on them with its newest addition to its Ingenium engine lineup.

Jaguar has just announced a new four-cylinder engine will sit in the middle of the 2018 XE, XF, and F-Pace lineups. This new engine will displace the same 2.0 liters as the new four-pot Jag introduced earlier in 2017, but it will produce 296 horsepower — 49 more horsepower than the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder.

In the F-Pace, Jaguar reports the new 2.0-liter will result in a 5.7-second 0-to-60 time and up to 25 mpg highway. In the midsize XF sedan, we’ll see a 0-to-60 time of 5.8 seconds with rear-wheel drive and up to 28 mpg highway. The compact XE sedan with this new engine will sprint to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds with all-wheel drive and deliver 28 mpg highway.

This engine will come with the 30t badge on the models it powers. This puts it in a group with the the 247-horsepower 25t, the 180-horsepower 20d (diesel), and the 380-horsepower S.

This engine will pair with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. The XE and XF will be available with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, while the F-Pace will come only with all-wheel drive.

In addition to the new engine, the 2018 XE and XF will gain a new Gesture Controlled Trunk Lid, and all three models will gain new driver assistance technology, like optional Forward Vehicle Guidance and Forward Traffic Detection.

There is no mention of when the 2018 F-Pace, XE, and XF will be in showrooms, but it shouldn’t be too long, considering not much else is changing in any of them.
