Infiniti Shows off the QX30 Prior to its Debut

With a little more than a week to go before its official debut, Infiniti just couldn’t keep its QX30 bottled up any longer, as it released a more revealing teaser image and a bit of info on the crossover.

Infiniti claims that the styling theme behind the QX30 is “stylish protection,” which is indicated by the aluminum-trimmed front bumper (not visible in these images) and the skid plate under the rear bumper. Other than those two items, the carbon-fiber lower body cladding, and the 21-inch wheels, this image makes it even more obvious that the QX30 is simply a Q30 Concept with a little more airtime. The taillights, the body lines, the accents, and all of the curves of the body are literally identical to the Q30 Concept. I am guessing that the front end is equally identical, save for a more SUV-like bumper and the aforementioned aluminum trimming.

As I said before, from what I saw of the Q30 Concept, I cannot say that a jacked-up version is necessarily a bad thing. The Q30 Concept was an aggressive-looking hatch that would fit well in Infiniti’s lineup. The issue at hand here is whether or not the market really needs more perched hatchbacks. Particularly one from Infiniti.

We’ll get a full look at the QX30 Concept on March 3rd at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, and we’ll also get to gauge just how serious Infiniti is on building this small crossover. Given the fact that the Q30 hatchback has already been spotted testing in production guise, I assume that rolling this model to production shouldn’t be too difficult.

Stay tuned, as we’ll bring you all the juicy details once Infiniti releases them.
