Hyundai has been hard at work on upping its performance game, but it’s been doing all of this behind closed doors and away from the prying eyes of us motorheads. Today, the automaker gave us a taste of what may be in store in the near future with a badass teaser video (below) showing the i30 N doing its thing in the twist.

The video doesn’t reveal much, other than the fact that handling is just as important as power to Hyundai’s N division—its new performance arm—as evidenced by this curve-slicing video. With that said, it clearly isn’t shying away from power—the crackling exhaust and rev matching are signs of this.

As awesome as this video is, it doesn’t give up any details on what the i30 N will bring to the table. What we do know is that this model will set its sights on the Volkswagen GTI and Ford Focus ST, which have as much as 220 and 252 horsepower, respectively. This has led to rumors of 255 horsepower, or more, from this mighty Korean hatchback.

What remains up in the air is whether we’ll see this model here in the U.S. As I am sure you know, the i30 is not available in the U.S., but it is virtually identical to our Elantra GT. If we were to see this model in the States, it would likely arrive as an Elantra GT N or simply Elantra N—not nearly as sexy as i30 N, in my opinion.

Hyundai will unveil its new i30 in Paris this year and rumor has it that the i30 N will debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Between now and the Geneva show, there should be plenty of rumors and speculation to wade through. Stay tuned!
