Hyundai is working hard at giving German luxury automakers a thing or two to think about. It began this with the release of the Equus and Genesis sedans and is now continuing this with the release of its Genesis brand. The two models that will kick off the Genesis brand are the G90 and G80, which are essentially rebadged Equus and Genesis Sedan models, respectively. Today, we finally get a look at just how much the new G80 will cost.

Initially, the 2017 Genesis G80 will come in three main powertrain setups: 3.8, 3.8 AWD, and 5.0 Ultimate. Respectively, these models will base from $41,400, $43,900, and $54,500. Relative to the models it competes with, like the BMW 5 Series (starting from $50,200), the Mercedes-Benz E-Class (starting from $52,150), and the Cadillac CTS (based from $45,560), these prices are great. However, when compared to its predecessor, the 2016 Hyundai Genesis Sedan, there is a $2,650 price increase.

On the surface, this price increase seems almost pointless, but a deeper dig into the options guide shows that the G80 actually comes standard with a lot of the goodies included with the Genesis’ Signature and Tech packages. The new standard bits include high-beam assist, auto emergency braking, blind-spot detection, an electric parking brake, smart cruise control, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, a haptic steering wheel, and more. Together, these packages run $7,400, so there is clearly a lot of value here.

Buyers looking for even more features can opt for the Premium Package, which includes features like LED fog lights, a panoramic sunroof, a 14-speaker audio system, a rearview camera with guidelines, ventilated front seats, and more for $4,750. In addition to this package is the Ultimate Package, which adds in premium leather seating, matte-finish wood and aluminum trim, a heads-up display, a 9.2-inch touchscreen with navigation, a power trunk lid, a 17-speaker audio system, and more for another $4,200 on top of the Premium Package.

Genesis plans to have the 2017 G80 in showrooms in September.
