Ford to Build Only 100 GT350s and 37 GT350Rs
Ford stole a lot of manufacturers’ thunder in the past year with a slew of awesome reveals. One such unveiling was the Shelby GT350 and the GT350R. With the production of these two ultra-insane versions of the Mustang nearing production, Ford has decided to announce just how limited these model will be.
The 2015 GT350 will be the most abundant version, of course, as Ford will produce a total of 100 units. Within these 100 units, 50 of them will come with the Technology Package, which adds in things like dual-climate control, power seats with leather upholstery, Shaker Audio, an 8-inch MyFord Touch LCD, and more. The remaining 50 units will feature the Track Pack, which will add in a special engine oil cooler and a transmission cooler.
It’s odd that Ford will not offer a single Shelby GT350 in its base format.
The GT350R will be the most limited version of this year’s `Stang, as Ford will limit it to only 37 units.
Fortunately, these limited production numbers are only for the 2015 model year. The press release implies that Ford will continue building both the GT350 and the GT350R in the 2016 model year, but there is no indication of how many examples Ford will build of each. I would assume that we’ll see these numbers increase slightly, given they are no longer in celebration of the model’s 50th birthday.
Ford didn’t announce when the 2015 Shelby GT350 and the GT350R will hit dealerships, but summer is right around the corner, and that would be the ideal season to unload these limited models.
