Ford Details the 2018 Mustang GT’s Custom Shoes
The Ford Mustang has big plans for the 2018 model year, and more details just keep on coming. Ford recently announced all the info on the new set of rubber for the 2018 Mustang GT.
This rubber will be a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S sized 275/40R19 on the rear and 255/40R19 up front. Ford had Michelin custom create these tires for the Mustang to provide optimal grip in dry and wet conditions, and to deliver top-notch braking and lateral grip.
These tires will feature an ultra-reactive tread pattern that adapts to the road, a hybrid belt made of aramid (heat-resistant synthetic fibers used in aerospace applications) and nylon for better feedback, a hybrid elastomer on the outer rib for optimal dry grip, and a mixture of elastomers and silica in the middle and inner ribs for ideal wet traction.
The final touch on these shoes is a velvet look on the side wall to accentuate its graphics.
These new tires will debut in the fall of 2017 as a part of the new Performance Package available on the 2018 Mustang GT. There’s still no information on how much the Performance Package will cost, so stay tuned for updates.
