The Infiniti Q60 Coupe has been long overdue for a redesign, as it has remained unchanged since before Infiniti changed its name form G37 Coupe. Today, at the Detroit Auto Show, the Japanese luxury automaker has revealed the new Q60 and its potent, new powertrain.

The new Q60 Coupe retains the basic sports coupe silhouette of last-generation model, but the styling of the body is all new. From front to back, all of the sheet metal is brand-new, giving the Q60 a more muscular look than ever before. Its nose dives downward significantly more than in previous years, the rear quarter glass now has a unique kink to it, and the rear end now appears wider than ever with its elongated taillights and full-width diffuser with integrated tailpipes.

Inside, the cabin is sharper than before and looks more like it belongs to a luxury sports coupe than an upscale Nissan. This new cockpit features sports seats, a sportier steering wheel, a trim piece that runs up the center console then up the passenger side of the center stack, and what looks like high-end upholstery.

While the new body is awesome, the real news is under the hood of the new Q60 Coupe. Here, you’ll find two versions of Infiniti’s new 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine. The base engine lays down a respectable 300 horsepower, which puts it 30 ponies under the outgoing 3.7-liter V-6, but it likely delivers far superior fuel economy and significantly more torque. As for the range-topping engine, it produces a whopping 400 horsepower.

As always, the Infiniti Q60’s chassis is designed to deliver a mixture of a comfy ride and good handling. New to the Q60 is the brand’s second-generation Direct Adaptive Steering and a Drive Mode Selector. Both systems help further balance the Q60 between performance and comfort.

Look for the Q60 Coupe to hit showrooms in the summer of 2016. Prices will arrive once we get closer to its launch date.
