It’s finally here, the U.S.-exclusive Ferrari model to commemorate 60 years of Prancing Horse history in America, and I am quite impressed. Unlike so many automakers who simply slap some badges on a few cars, Ferrari took it to a new level by taking the F12berlinetta and turning it into an open-top supercar for the ages: the F60America.

The first thing you’ll notice is that the F60America doesn’t wear the traditional Ferrari red suit; rather, it is covered in the classic Ferrari America racing livery of blue and white and carries special 60th anniversary badges on the wheel arches. Closer examination unveils more differences between the F60America and the F12 that it is based on, including a revised front fascia with modified air intake and lip spoiler, a revised hood with nostril-style heat extractors, lightly revised headlights and modified heat extractors just behind the front wheels. Around back the changes continue with the elimination of the staple T-shape of the F12, and the addition of more protruding taillights and a new diffusor with a pair of fins under the center of the bumper.

To make this model truly special, Ferrari chopped the top off of the F12berlinetta making it essentially a permanent open-top supercar. Ferrari states that there is a light fabric top that you can use in bad weather that is good for speeds of up to 120 km/h (~75 mph). Protecting you in the instance of a rollover is a set of leather-wrapped roll hoops — one behind each seat — with carbon-fiber buttresses that flow toward the rear of the car.

On the inside is an interesting asymmetrical look, with the driver side and passenger side showing two different personalities. The driver side comes it a sporty red trim and the passenger side is covered in black to pay homage to classic Ferrari racers. Composite materials cover the dashboard, center tunnel and door panels to add some extra exclusivity, and the racing seats have a stylized American flag on their backrests.

Under the F60America’s hood is the F12berlinetta’s 6.3-liter, V-12 engine that cranks out 730 horsepower and 508 pound-feet of torque. This powerplant allows the F60America to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.1 seconds.

If you were hoping to buy one of these exclusive models, you’re out of luck, as Ferrari is only building 10 examples and they are all sold. Rumor has it that each example sold for $2.5 million.
