Dodge Extends its Blacktop Package to the Durango
We’ve seen the Blacktop appearance package make its way across Dodge’s lineup, as it has upgraded the looks of the Dart, Charger, Challenger, Avenger and others. One vehicle that Dodge has excluded from the Blacktop package is the Durango, but this is coming to an end, as Dodge will offer this package on its three-row SUV for the tail end of the 2014 model year.
When added to the Durango SXT, the Blacktop Package will add in gloss-black 20-inch wheels, dual exhaust with chrome tips, a gloss-black crosshair grille and surround, gloss-black side-view mirrors, gloss-black badging, black headlight bezels, and body-color fascias and moldings. The dual exhaust system also increases the output of the V-6 engine by five horsepower, bumping it to 295 ponies. This package will increase the SXT’s base price by $1,590.
This Durango Limited with the Blacktop package adds all the goodies that the SXT receives, plus HID headlights and LED daytime running lights. The Blacktop Package adds $1,990 to the Durango Limited’s base price.
The R/T model gets the fewest upgrades from the Blacktop Package, as it gains 20-inch gloss-black wheels, the gloss-black crosshair grille and surround, and gloss-black badges for an extra $295.
The Blacktop Package will be available in only five exterior colors: Billet Silver, Bright White, Brilliant Black, Granite Crystal and Redline Red. Dodge specifically chose these colors because the gloss-black additions contrast them best.
The Blacktop package will arrive at Dodge dealerships across the nation in October 2014. With this package being such a late addition to the 2014 model year, Dodge may offer it on the 2015 Durango as well.
