Chevy Wants You To Command Your Car With An Apple Watch

Chevrolet is pushing further into the future of wearable tech. Its popular myChevrolet app now works on Apple Watches. That means you can start and stop your car’s engine, actuate the door locks, turn on the horn/lights, track the location, and get walking directions to your parking spot without taking your phone out of your pocket.

According to Chevrolet, this move has been fueled by the growing popularity of the myChevrolet app. Almost 1.4 million vehicle owners have downloaded the app. Chevrolet claims many use it regularly, too. According to the company, the most avid adopters are Equinox, Malibu, and Silverado owners.

While this news is surprising, even more shocking is the fact that Chevrolet thinks enough vehicle owners have an Apple Watch to make the offering worth the investment. After all, the Apple Watch didn’t exactly wow like the iPhone did when it debuted.

You have to admit, having a watch that will control your car is cool. That’s especially true if you grew up watching Knight Rider and fantasizing about owning a sentient Trans Am. Pontiac might not be around anymore, but you could command your Camaro with your watch, and that’s pretty cool.
