Cadillac Officially Announces Changes to the 2017 ATS and CTS

Earlier this week, we brought you the news that the ATS would lose its base 2.5-liter engine. Today, Cadillac confirms that and other changes to both the ATS and CTS for the 2017 model year.

Both the ATS and CTS will get simplified lineups that include trim levels that better align with the new CT6 an XT5. For the ATS, there will be the base, Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Premium Performance trims while the CTS will get base, Luxury, Premium Luxury, V-Sport, and V-Sport Premium trims. Also new on both models is a Carbon Black sport package, two new exterior colors, and new tech like MyCadillac Mobile App, Teen Driver and Cadillac Collection.

Specific to the ATS is the previously announced move to the turbo 2.0-liter being the base powerplant, but Cadillac will go beyond that by adding in its CUE system as a standard feature. The latter includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an available 4G LTE WiFi hotspot.

As for the specific mods to the 2017 CTS, Cadillac will add in a new grille with bolder horizontal bars, a new rear valance panel, and new vertically oriented—and odd-looking—exhaust exits. While most of these changes are improvements, the orientation of the exhaust exits may take some time to grow on me. The final change to the CTS for the new model year is the addition of the CT6’s Rear Camera Mirror as an available option.

Cadillac has yet to announce when the 2017 ATS and CTS will be in showrooms, but they should arrive soon. Keep it locked here for updates.
