Bugatti is Preparing a Model to Outdo the Veyron

They Veyron had a good run, but it is scheduled to ride off into the sunset in about a year. Bugatti isn’t shedding a tear but instead is hard at work moving on. And moving on means producing an even more insane supercar that should first make an appearance in 2015.

The new model is enshrouded in secrecy, of course, but some information has been leaked. Supposedly, the supercar will produce up to 1,500 horsepower via a 16-cylinder engine. That little detail has many speculating that the company will be recycling the 8.0-liter W-16 engine from the Veyron, but modifying it for better performance. It’s also obvious that Bugatti is miffed Koenigsegg has produced a more powerful vehicle, so this is the way to get back on top.

Not only will the new Bugatti be more powerful, it also is rumored to be lighter. That’s the current trend in the automotive industry as carbon fiber, aluminum and lightweight composites are replacing heavier materials from the past. Of course, as the car sheds weight it has gains performance in terms of handling, acceleration, top speed and braking ability.

Even though in the past the company has said it will not be pushing to surpass the insane and record-setting top speed of the Veyron, which is 267.856 mph officially, there are rumors that the new car will surpass that top speed after all. Considering how difficult it is to have enough space to reach such speeds, all of this is part of the marketing story for the new model. Because let’s face it, people who spend that much on a car often need to have the best even if they don’t tap into all of that ability.
