BMW X2 Storms Onto The Scene
The wait to see BMW’s latest SAV is over. With much fanfare, the Bavarians unveiled the X2. Fortunately, it takes on a look that’s not too much like the X1 or X3, but some might not like it. It’s supposed to look like a coupe, hence the low roof and wide stance. BMW calls it sporty urban. I can think of a few other things to call it, but whatever.
For the engine lineup, we’ll get a turbo four-cylinder engine that BMW says will rocket the X2 from 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds. Not bad. That’s all the engine info we’re getting for now. Europe will get a turbodiesel engine, but not North America. Of course, xDrive is in the mix.
I don’t quite understand why BMW is offering some cladding strip that wraps around the bottom portion of the X2. It just muddles an otherwise decent design job, making the vehicle look over styled. BMW can’t go down the pathway Honda is on.
The X2 will hit the market in the spring of 2018. Expect it to start somewhere around $37,000 (that’s an educated guess). Yes, it’s pretty much like the X1, but with different looks. Basically, BMW is looking for more cash cows, and SAVs are it.
