Most car shoppers don’t slam on a car’s brakes out of courtesy, but they are potentially missing out on catching a mechanical issue before making a purchase. Problems like the vehicle shuddering uncontrollably, loud squealing or grinding, pulling to one side or the other, etc. are all indications a used car has mechanical problems. Also pay attention to whether the brake pedal feels squishy or firm since squishy can indicate a problem with the brake system.
