2018 Toyota Yaris Gets Upgraded Looks, Features, and Paint

There is never much exciting to be said about the Toyota Yaris, but it is getting some mild visual and feature updates for 2018.

Starting with the exterior, the L and LE trims receive a more aggressive front fascia with a new grille and chrome accents. The SE trim will add a new sports front fascia that features a piano-black mesh grille with a chrome surround.

Around back, the 2018 Yaris gets a few updates that help visually widen it (sorry, no images). These include wider taillights that are integrated into the hatch, an updated rear bumper, and a new lower bumper insert with side reflectors. Exclusive to the SE trim are 16-inch machined alloy wheels with dark accents.

Rounding out the exterior updates are two new colors, Blue Eclipse and two-tone Blue Eclipse with a Black Sand Pearl roof, that join six carryover colors: Super White, Classic Silver Metallic, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Black Sand Pearl, Ruby Flare Pearl, and the two-tone Ruby Flare Pearl, with Black Sand Pearl roof. Toyota also eliminated last year’s Blue Streak Metallic and two-tone Crushed Ice with Black Sand Pearl roof exterior hues.

The interior gets a handful of useful updates too. These include a standard tilt steering wheel with audio controls on the L trim. Both the L and LE models gain the sport analog gauges (borrowed from the SE) with an LCD screen that shows a clock, outside temp, instant and average fuel economy, distance to empty, average speed and shift position, an Eco-driving indicator, and warning messages on models with the automatic transmission.

On the tech side, the 2018 Yaris will gain the 6.1-inch Entune infotainment system with six speakers, an auxiliary jack, a USB port, iPod connectivity, advanced voice recognition, Bluetooth phone and audio, and Siri Eyes free as standard on the L and LE trims. The SE trim jumps to the 7-inch Entune system, which adds Scout Navigation connectivity, SiriusXM, HD Radio, HD Radio traffic, and more.

For all these upgrades, the 2018 Yaris won’t see a huge uptick in price. The Yaris L will run $15,635-$16,760 ($385 increase), the LE will run $17,285-$17,660 ($375 increase), and the SE will run $18,260-$19,060 ($1,060 increase).

The 2018 Toyota Yaris will hit showrooms this summer. Stay tuned for more updates as we near its official release date.
