2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata Gets a Cherry on Top

The 2018 Mazda MX-5 Miata is set to hit showrooms soon, so the automaker is announcing mild tweaks to its resident roadster in preparation for its arrival.

The changes aren’t anything major, but they are noticeable improvements.

Probably the most obvious of changes will be to the available color schemes. Inside, the MX-5 will gain a new Auburn Nappa leather option, while the exterior gains two new premium color options: Soul Red Crystal and Machine Gray Metallic. While those are nice additions, probably the coolest of the color scheme changes is the addition of the new Dark Cherry soft top.

Other changes for 2018 include heated black leather seats in the Brembo/BBS Package; heated Recaro sport seats in the Brembo/BBS Recaro Package; a standard Mazda Connect infotainment system, which includes a 7-inch touchscreen, in the Sport trim; and heated cloth seats with red stitching on the Club trim.

All else remains pretty much the same for the 2018 MX-5, including its standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 155 horsepower. Also remaining the same are its two transmission options: a standard six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic.

Pricing will start from $25,295 for the Sport trim with the manual transmission and top out at $31,270 for the Grand Touring with a six-speed automatic. Look for the 2018 MX-5 Miata to hit showrooms in January 2018.
