2018 Jaguar XJ Arrives With Small Enhancements

The big news for the 2018 Jaguar XJ lineup was the introduction of the all-new XJR575, but there are a few more upgrades that need addressed a little further downstream from this range-topping model.

In terms of looks, the 2018 Jaguar XJ lineup will be identical to the previous model year, but a few new technical items will be brand new.

Inside, buyers will enjoy the new Jaguar InControl Touch Pro infotainment system and 4G LTE Wi-Fi. This system will include a brand-new, in-house-designed navigation system that is accessible through the new 10-inch capacitive touchscreen with a customizable home screen.

Safety also takes centerstage in the new XJ, as Jaguar added a few new tech goodies to enhance occupant security. First is the new Driver Condition Monitor system, which monitors sudden and excessive steering wheel inputs, and brake and accelerator pedal activation to determine if the driver is fatigued. If it feels the driver needs a break, it’ll flash alerts on the instrument panel. This feature will come standard on all rear-wheel-drive XJ models.

Also updated is the XJ’s blind-spot monitoring. This new system will apply corrective steering if the driver tries to change lanes while a vehicle is in the blind spot. It also will alert the drive via a flashing light on the corresponding side-view mirror.

Other driver-assistance features available on the 2018 XJ include automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise with stop and start, rear cross-traffic alert., a 360-degree camera, and park assist.

The 2018 Jaguar XJ will come in a pair of short-wheelbase models and three long-wheelbase versions. The former will include the XJ R-Sport and XJ Supercharged, which will start from $75,400 and $93,000, respectively. The long-wheelbase models will include the XJL Portfolio, XJL Supercharged, and the XJR575, which start from $84,500, $96,300, and $122,400, respectively.

Like previous years, the XJ models come with a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 with 340 horsepower and the XJ Supercharged models will boast a 470-horsepower 5.0-liter V-8. The XJ575, as you already know, will come with a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 that produces 575 horsepower.

The 2018 XJ lineup will hit showrooms in the fall of 2017.
