2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang Set to Start From $47,870

Well, it is confirmed, folks, the 2016 Shelby GT350 will hit the market as one of the best buys ever. A report from Mustang6g.com and later confirmed by Ford puts the GT350 at a starting price of just $47,870. This report began as a leak from the folks over at Mustang6g and was later confirmed by Autoblog and Jalopnik.

The 2016 model year will be the first year of full availability of the GT350, as the Ford limited the 2015 GT350s to just 100 units, none of which were base models – they all came with either the Technology or Track Package.

Beyond the base price, the leaked-then-confirmed document puts the Equipment Group 920A, AKA the R Package, at $13,500. Also included in this document are other option prices, like the Technology Package at $6,694, the Track Package at $6,500, the Electronics Package at $3,000, the painted-black roof at $695, the over-the-top racing stripe at $475, the Triple Yellow Tri-Coat Paint at $495, and the car cover at $375.

In addition to these prices, buyers will also need to pay a $1,300 gas-guzzler tax and an $825 destination charge.

Looking at that base price and knowing that the 2016 Shelby GT350 will feature a 5.2-liter V-8 that produces more than 500 horses and 400 pound-feet of torque, and Ford’s first-even MagneRide suspension system makes me think that this may be the value of the era in the muscle car realm.

Unfortunately, there is still no anticipated release date for the 2016 Shelby GT350, but the users at Mustang6g.com all seem to think a Q3 or Q4 release is likely.
