2014 Cars Perfect for Outdoor Enthusiasts
2. 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser Trail Teams Ultimate Edition
In case you didn’t hear, Toyota is phasing out the FJ Cruiser after 2014. The SUV’s swan song is a Trail Teams Ultimate Edition. The limited edition model pays tribute to the old FJ40 from the 1960s, thanks to a white front grille and Heritage Blue paint. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the many modifications and upgrades to the vehicle that make it an even better wilderness toy. The suspension has been upgraded to a TRD race-inspired configuration, including TRD Ultimate Edition Bilstein shocks. Extra protection comes in the form of a TRD front skid plate that’s thicker than the standard one. The vehicle is even more surefooted thanks to all-terrain tires wrapped around 16-inch bead-lock wheels. Some people complain about the FJ Cruiser’s funky design and large blind spots, but nobody who uses it for its intended off-roading purposes really complains.
