13 Cars Getting a Full Redesign for 2015
11. Volkswagen Golf/Golf GTI/Golf R
The legendary hot hatch, the VW Golf, had its entire lineup reworked for the 2015 model year. This redesign is more of an evolution than a revolution, as the model is still familiar, but the changes are noticeable. These changes include new lighting, more aggressive body lines, a more angular body, and a revise grille. These changes span across the Golf line, and include the Golf GTI and the re-introduced Golf R.
Powering the Golf lineup are four new engines. The base Golf gets a new EA888, 1.8-liter, turbocharged engine that lays down 170 horses and 184 pound-feet of torque. The Golf TDI gets a new EA288, turbo0diesel engine that produces 150 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque. The Golf GTI gets a revised version of the new EA888 engine that cranks out 210 horses and 258 pound-feet of torque. The Golf R gets an even higher-output version of the EA888 engine with 290 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque.
