10. Dodge Challenger – MSRP from $26,495
Before you get too excited, the only version of the Challenger that has an MSRP of under $30,000 is the SXT. The R/T’s MSRP is just slightly over that, so unless you have the negotiating skills of a three year-old, you should be able to get an R/T for the price. With the SXT, you get a 3.6-liter V6 engine good for 305 horsepower and 268 lb.-ft. of torque. Dodge doesn’t give an acceleration estimate. With the R/T, the car is powered by a beefy Hemi 5.7-liter V8 that kicks out 372 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. With the larger engine acceleration is impressive at 5.5 seconds for 0 to 60 mph, with the manual transmission. Going with the sissy automatic penalizes the car with a 5.8 second acceleration time. The Challenger is the most livable modern muscle car, but the interior doesn’t look nearly as cool as the exterior.
